PURPOSE:
The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), Central Maryland Chapter, seeks to recognize outstanding graduating seniors for their past achievements and to aid them in accomplishing their career goals.
AWARD:
Each scholarship is an award of $10,000, $2,500 for each year of a four-year academic education. Scholarships will be presented to seniors of the Central Maryland area to be used in achieving education goals at the schools of their choice.
CRITERIA:
Applicants must be outstanding, well rounded graduating high school seniors. Students must also be planning to enter a science or engineering field of study supportive of national defense (i.e. engineering, telecommunications, computer science, mathematics, or other related technical electives). Students generally have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, plus a combined math and verbal SAT score of 1200. Special performance can lead to consideration in cases of lesser scores.
CEREMONIES AND PUBLICITY:
Seniors selected for a scholarship will be notified of their selection by late January, and will be recognized by the AFCEA Central Maryland Chapter at an awards dinner in early May. The names of award recipients and photographs will be provided to local papers and the national AFCEA publication, Signal Magazine.
